A fraccion unitaria or unit fraction is a fraction where the numerator is 1 and the denominator is a whole number greater than 1. For example, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, and so on, are all unit fractions. These fractions represent parts of a whole that are divided into equal parts, with each part being one of the fractions listed above.
Unit fractions have several interesting properties. For example, any fraction can be expressed as a sum of unit fractions. This concept is known as Egyptian fraction representation. Also, some unit fractions have repeating decimals, while others have terminating decimals. For example, 1/2 has a terminating decimal of 0.5, while 1/3 has a repeating decimal of 0.3333…
